It is a joy to work with and learn from Dr. Craig Elliott. He has co-facilitated social justice retreats at two of my institutions, Rollins College and Oregon State University. I think there are many ways to raise consciousness about privilege and power issues- Craig has the ability to adjust his style and approach depending on the participants in the space. I am so thankful to have a white facilitator-scholar who is able to engage white people in race dialogue, being affirming and challenging, while also educating the group about systems of oppression.

Sometimes it can be difficult to find facilitators who can integrate a scholarly approach with a demonstrated social justice centered praxis. Craig weaves the academic theory with the lived experience in a way that allows him to reach his participants in a personal, meaningful way. He allows me space to heal in my own journey, and has paved the way for others to engage on their own journey to more whole versions of themselves.
